Peer-reviewed research by the Department of Chemical, Materials and Production Engineering (DICMaPI) of the University of Naples Federico II, in collaboration with the University of Messina, and published in the Journal of Manufacturing Processes (Elsevier), explores the design and performance of sandwich structures produced using Foam Additive Manufacturing (FAM).
The study demonstrates how tailored mono-material configurations can achieve high bending strength and energy absorption without the need for adhesives or multiple materials, enabling fully recyclable, lightweight components for applications in transportation, packaging, and structural engineering.
